For independent journalists & local news

Every story, listenable — without a studio or a staff.

Big newsrooms ship audio versions of their articles because listeners stay subscribed. Now a one-person newsroom can do the same: paste the story, pick a voice, embed the player.

Your readers became listeners years ago.

Podcasts taught news audiences to get their journalism by ear, and major publishers responded with audio versions of written stories — it deepens engagement and travels where text can't. The tooling for that has been priced for newsrooms with contracts and CMS integrations. The reporting is the hard part; the audio version shouldn't be.

From filed story to audio version

Three steps, no microphone involved.

1

Paste the story's link

Allmagine fetches the article and strips the page furniture. Filing from a Google Doc or plain paste works too.

2

Pick your publication's voice

One consistent narrator across your coverage. About 1,000 characters becomes a minute — a 1,200-word story is roughly 7 minutes.

3

Embed it above the fold

Paste the snippet into your CMS — compact audio bar under the headline, or the full read-along player.

This is the player, live

The exact read-along player you'd embed — press play and watch the text follow the voice.

Accessibility built in

The read-along player is audio and synchronized text in one — the story serves readers, listeners, and readers who need both at once.

Corrections without re-recording

Update the text and regenerate — only changed tracks are re-narrated. An audio version that can keep up with a correction cycle.

No paywall on listening

Public narrations play for anyone, no account. Or flag a preview with sample mode if your model gates full stories.

What it costs, in stories

Narration minutes are the only cost — a typical 1,200-word story uses about 7 of them. Listening is free for everyone, always.

Questions journalists ask

How fast is it? News doesn't wait.

Minutes, not days: paste the story, pick the voice, generate, embed. The narration is ready as fast as the audio renders — fast enough to publish with the story, not after it.

What about names and places the voice might mispronounce?

The narrator reads names the way English spelling suggests, which is right most of the time but worth checking for local names that matter. Listen before you publish; regenerating a corrected track only re-spends that track's minutes. Pronunciation controls are planned.

What does a month of coverage cost?

A 1,200-word story runs about 7 narration minutes. The free plan's 30 monthly minutes covers a story a week; the Standard plan ($19/month, 150 minutes) covers roughly 20 stories a month.

Do listeners need an Allmagine account?

No. Public narrations play in full for anyone by default — in the embedded player on your site or on the narration's own page. Listeners only need a free account if they want a personal library and synced listening progress.

Who owns the audio?

You do. Your text stays yours and so do the narrations made from it. Keep them private, publish them, embed them, or delete them whenever you like.

Tomorrow's story could publish with audio.
